ORANJESTAD – Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) proudly hosted this year’s Airports Council International (ACI) of the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region’s annual Environment & Sustainability and Security Committee meetings from September 1 to 3, 2025.
The ACI-LAC Environment & Sustainability Committee is the working group responsible for developing collective airport positions on issues related to the environmental management and sustainability of the airport industry and continuously promotes and highlights best practices in environmental management.
The ACI-LAC Facilitation, Security & IT Committee focuses on encouraging airports to continue implementing new technologies and best practices that improve processes, flows and accessibility, with the objective to continuously promote security measures based on their current risk context.
Over 50 committee members from Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Bogota, Argentina, Brazil, Curacao, Holland, Belgium, Greece and Aruba were warmly welcomed on Monday September 1, 2025, with a ‘Taste of Aruba’ event, where they were able to enjoy of local food and beverage options, local music, and local vendors with handmade products available. This year’s Environment & Sustainability committee meeting focused on a gradual path to circularity, biodiversity, adaptation to climate change, international waste management and workshops for the Airport Carbon Accreditation program as well as Airport Resilience and Adaptation to Climate Change. The Facilitation, Security & IT committee meeting covered topics such as security equipment testing, mixed terminal concept, digital transformation in AVSEC security management and latest technological developments across different airports.
“We are extremely honored to have been the official host for this year’s Environment & Sustainability Committee meeting as it is an important opportunity to discuss regional, national as well as international environment-related developments, measures and opportunities”, said Ms. Christine Kaarsbaan-Leo, Sustainability & Health Manager at AAA and ACI-LAC Vice Chair.

ORANJESTAD – La Autoridad Aeroportuaria de Aruba N.V. (AAA) tuvo el honor de acoger las reuniones anuales del Comité de Medio Ambiente, Sostenibilidad y Seguridad del Consejo Internacional de Aeropuertos (ACI) de la región de América Latina y el Caribe (LAC), celebradas del 1 al 3 de septiembre de 2025.
El Comité de Medio Ambiente y Sostenibilidad de ACI-LAC es el grupo de trabajo responsable de desarrollar posiciones colectivas de los aeropuertos sobre temas relacionados con la gestión ambiental y la sostenibilidad de la industria aeroportuaria y promueve y destaca continuamente las mejores prácticas en gestión ambiental.
El Comité de Facilitación, Seguridad y Tecnología de la Información de ACI-LAC se centra en incentivar a los aeropuertos a seguir implementando nuevas tecnologías y mejores prácticas que mejoren los procesos, los flujos y la accesibilidad, con el objetivo de promover continuamente medidas de seguridad basadas en su contexto de riesgo actual.
Más de 50 miembros del comité procedentes de México, Costa Rica, República Dominicana, Perú, Colombia, Panamá, Ecuador, Bogotá, Argentina, Brasil, Curacao, Holanda, Bélgica, Grecia y Aruba fueron recibidos calurosamente el lunes 1 de septiembre de 2025 con un evento denominado “Taste of Aruba” (Sabor de Aruba), en el que pudieron disfrutar de la gastronomía y las bebidas locales, la música local y los productos artesanales de los vendedores locales. La reunión del comité de Medio Ambiente y Sostenibilidad de este año se centró en un camino gradual hacia la circularidad, la biodiversidad, la adaptación al cambio climático, la gestión internacional de residuos y talleres para el programa de Acreditación de Carbono de Aeropuertos, así como la Resiliencia de los Aeropuertos y la Adaptación al Cambio Climático. La reunión del comité de Facilitación, Seguridad y TI abarcó temas como las pruebas de equipos de seguridad, el concepto de terminal mixta, la transformación digital en la gestión de la seguridad AVSEC y los últimos avances tecnológicos en diferentes aeropuertos.
